Sampyo Group is strengthening technology partnerships with GS Engineering & Construction (006360.KS) and others to improve construction quality for high-rise buildings.
Sampyo Industries and Sampyo Cement (038500.KQ), subsidiaries of Sampyo Group, announced on the 10th that they signed a memorandum of understanding for "high-rise construction innovation technology cooperation" with GS E&C and Saint-Gobain Korea Holdings on the 3rd.
The agreement was established to improve concrete pumping performance, an essential process at high-rise construction sites, and to ensure construction safety. Pumping performance refers to the ability to smoothly push and pour concrete into buildings using pumps.
The four companies aim to commercialize "low-viscosity high-fluidity concrete" that can reduce friction resistance during pumping and enable smooth pouring to upper floors, jointly conducting the entire process from concrete mix design to on-site demonstration. The plan is to increase construction efficiency and achieve target strength by lowering concrete viscosity.
Sampyo Industries and Sampyo Cement will lead the development of special cement for high-rise pouring and verification of mixing technologies.
In particular, the companies will utilize "Blument Speed," an eco-friendly blended cement developed by Sampyo Group's Technology Research Institute. This product is characterized by its ability to achieve formwork removal strength within one day of pouring, simultaneously shortening construction periods and increasing construction efficiency.
GS E&C will oversee technology performance evaluation and demonstration.
Saint-Gobain Korea Holdings will develop customized admixtures incorporating global technology, establishing an organic cooperation system. The jointly developed high-performance concrete is scheduled to be applied in phases to major high-rise reconstruction and redevelopment sites including Hangang Mansion in Seoul and Busan Citizens Park Promotion District 1.
"The success of high-rise construction sites depends on concrete quality that delivers consistent strength even under harsh pouring conditions," said Lee Jong-seok, CEO of Sampyo Industries. "Based on our group's cement production and mixing technology capabilities, we will play a key role in creating safe construction sites through communication with our partners."
