LG Electronics is accelerating its push into the global air care market with a next-generation air purification filter using a Nobel Chemistry Prize-winning material and a space-customized product lineup.
LG Electronics announced Wednesday that it participated in Air Fair 2026, an air industry exhibition, where it unveiled a wide range of next-generation air quality management solutions packed with innovative technologies.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is the company's differentiated filter technology. LG Electronics showcased a new filter technology using metal-organic framework (MOF) materials. MOF is a novel material that achieves a massive surface area with a small amount of substance, absorbing harmful gases like a sponge. Two filters in the LG PuriCare 360° air purifier M7 equipped with this material can filter pollutants across a surface area equivalent to 11.7 football fields (84,000 square meters). The system precisely detects and removes eight types of pollutants, ranging from ultra-fine dust to cooking oil fumes and formaldehyde.
Space-customized solutions reflecting a market segmentation strategy also drew attention. The ceiling-embedded LG PuriCare system air purifier, unveiled for the first time Wednesday, maximizes the usability of tight spaces by occupying no floor area. It also features a function that links with existing ventilation systems to expel harmful gases such as carbon dioxide to the outside.
LG Electronics plans to diversify its device form factors — including the wall-hugging "Wall Fit" at 18 centimeters wide and the ultra-compact "Aero Mini" at 36 centimeters tall — to simultaneously target single-person households as well as commercial (B2B) markets such as cafes. "We will continue to strengthen customized solutions that deliver pleasant air quality in any space, offering differentiated customer experiences," said Lee Jae-sung, president and head of LG Electronics' ES Business Division.
