Samsung Bioepis is launching an artificial intelligence (AI) training program for all employees. The company aims to internalize AI not as a simple work assistance tool but as a core technology to enhance work efficiency, cultivating AI experts specialized in the biopharmaceutical sector.
Samsung Bioepis said Tuesday that it has established a dedicated AI training facility called "AI Academy" at its Songdo, Incheon headquarters and will conduct AI theory and hands-on training for approximately 1,000 employees from April through July. This marks the first company-wide AI training initiative.
Each employee will complete a minimum of seven hours of training at the in-house AI training facility. The curriculum covers the latest generative AI applications, job-specific AI model design and work automation implementation.
Samsung Bioepis plans to expand the program into a sustainable system rather than ending it as a one-time event. To that end, the company will form a task force led by its dedicated AI team and develop customized AI agents for each division and team.
The company is also pursuing technological innovation alongside the training program. Key initiatives include shortening drug development timelines using digital twin technology, building proprietary AI infrastructure based on internal security networks and discovering new drug candidates through AI-based collaboration with external partners.
"AI is becoming a core driver that determines global competitiveness in the bio industry," said Kang Dae-sung, senior vice president and head of the People Team at Samsung Bioepis. "We will continue to ensure that enhancing employee capabilities through related technologies leads to strengthening the company's fundamental competitiveness."
