Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation (LX) has significantly lowered the barrier to applying for cadastral surveys online. The corporation said Friday it has revamped its existing "Cadastral Survey Prompt Processing Center" into a new "Cadastral Survey Application Portal," enabling anyone to apply for surveys via internet or mobile without signing up for an account.
The previous system had drawn constant complaints due to its use of specialized cadastral terminology and complex structure. Of approximately 200,000 cadastral survey applications filed annually, 70 to 80 percent were submitted through in-person visits to city, county or district offices or by phone.
On the revamped portal, users can simply search the address of the land to be surveyed and enter the purpose of the survey to complete their application. The system was designed to be accessible to the general public, allowing use without knowledge of technical terminology. For residents in remote areas or elderly users unfamiliar with the internet, the corporation also plans to operate a service in which staff visit applicants in person to assist with applications.
"We pursued this to save time and costs by relieving citizens of the inconvenience of visiting city, county or district offices, and to improve accessibility to cadastral surveys," CEO Eo Myeong-so said. "We will continue to further improve our application services going forward."
