Il-Dong Pharmaceutical announced on the 6th that it has launched "Purepa Speed Tablets," an oral hemorrhoid medication, to strengthen its lineup of hemorrhoid treatment brands.
The new product, Purepa Speed, is an over-the-counter drug containing micronized purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF). It is effective for hemorrhoids and venous lymphatic edema, including lower limb edema and pain. The drug can be purchased at pharmacies without a prescription.
The active ingredient MPFF is a complex substance that contains micronized diosmin along with active flavonoid components such as hesperidin, diosmetin, linarin, and isorhoifolin. According to Il-Dong Pharmaceutical, the diosmin used in Purepa Speed has been processed to an average particle size of less than 2µm to enhance absorption in the body. This design enables faster response to symptoms such as acute hemorrhoids.
Il-Dong Pharmaceutical's Purepa series of hemorrhoid treatments includes a diverse lineup of formulations beyond the newly launched Speed Tablets: △oral medication (Purepacen 600 Tablets), △topical treatments (Purepain Ointment and Purepain Mild Ointment), and △suppositories (Purepain Mild Suppositories). The company plans to market the new product while also promoting the benefits of combination therapy using various formulations and active ingredients.
"Hemorrhoids commonly present as mixed hemorrhoids involving both internal and external hemorrhoids, and symptoms such as pain, itching, and bleeding often occur in combination," a company official said. "It is effective to use oral medications, topical treatments, and suppositories together as appropriate, after consulting with a specialist."
