Sangsangin Securities said it expects Alginomics to see a significant share price rally as the company presents the first data demonstrating the in-vivo efficacy of its RNA trans-splicing ribozyme technology at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) annual meeting in April.
Lee Dal-mi, a researcher at Sangsangin Securities, wrote in a report on the 31st that "Alginomics' trans-splicing ribozyme technology does not rely on intracellular mechanisms but instead uses its own ribozyme to directly bind and edit therapeutic target RNA." Lee added that "this gives the company a significant advantage in efficiency and scalability compared to global competitors that compete with intracellular mechanisms."
Alginomics is set to present the first human proof-of-concept (POC) data for RZ-001, a liver cancer drug candidate, at the AACR conference on April 19. The presentation will include data on RZ-001 in combination with Tecentriq and Avastin as a first-line liver cancer treatment, with the goal of demonstrating an improved objective response rate (ORR) compared to existing immunotherapy agents.
"Wave Life Sciences (WAVE), a global RNA editing company, saw its stock price surge 147% in a single day after releasing positive clinical data in December last year," Lee said. "If positive data is confirmed at the AACR meeting, Alginomics is also expected to see strong share price momentum."
Beyond hepatocellular carcinoma (Phase 1b/2a), Alginomics has a diverse pipeline including glioblastoma (Phase 1/2a) and hereditary retinitis pigmentosa (Phase 1). Notably, the company signed a technology licensing deal worth approximately $1.334 billion with Eli Lilly in May last year for a hereditary hearing loss treatment, validating the strength of its platform technology.
