Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) and LG Electronics (066570.KS), Korea's two leading home appliance makers, have each claimed the No. 1 spot in Consumer Reports evaluations, reaffirming their global technology leadership.
Samsung Electronics' TV lineup scored 74 points in Consumer Reports' "Best TV Brand of the Year" overall evaluation, topping LG (72 points), Roku (71 points) and Sony (70 points), according to industry sources on Wednesday.
Samsung earned high marks in reliability and customer satisfaction, as well as in data privacy and security categories that were strengthened this year. Its 65-inch OLED TV (QN65S90F) received a top score of 91 points. Consumer Reports said of the model, "It enhances the realism of content through wide viewing angles and excellent motion performance, and sound quality is also the best among tested products."
LG Electronics swept all categories in Consumer Reports' "Best Washers Under $800 (approximately 1.2 million won)" evaluation. Its front-load washer (WM3400CW) ranked first with an overall score of 87 points, and LG also received the highest scores in both the standard top-load and high-efficiency top-load categories.
For its washer evaluations, Consumer Reports conducts precision tests using real-life stains such as wine and cocoa, performs analysis with measuring equipment, and calculates final scores by combining factors including noise, vibration, durability and consumer satisfaction.
LG Electronics' products were rated as overwhelming not only in washing performance but also in energy and water efficiency. LG swept the top eight spots in the front-load category and the top 10 models in the top-load category across the overall washer rankings, firmly maintaining its No. 1 market share in North America.
