Toyota Motor Korea said Tuesday that it delivered 80 million won ($55,000) in scholarships to Ajou Motor College on Monday and operated a motorsport and electrification education program centered on test-drive experiences.
The program was held at the Ajou Motor College campus as part of Toyota Motor Korea's industry-academia cooperation education program known as "T-TEP." Attendees included Lee Byung-jin, vice president of Toyota Motor Korea, and Han Myung-seok, president of Ajou Motor College.
Since signing the T-TEP partnership agreement with Ajou Motor College in 2020, Toyota Motor Korea has continued to operate an electrification training academy and provide training vehicles and parts. The company has delivered a cumulative 240 million won in scholarships over three years from 2024 through this year.
Following the scholarship ceremony, Toyota Motor Korea held the "Toyota-Lexus Experience Program" for 80 students majoring in motorsport and imported vehicles at Ajou Motor College. The program included brand education, recruitment briefings, and vehicle test drives. Participants drove on public roads in vehicles including the Lexus LX700h, NX450h, Toyota Prius, and Crown, and took to the circuit in sports cars including the Toyota GR86.
Toyota Motor Korea plans to provide additional support including race parts and tires to Ajou Motor College motorsport students who will compete in the "2026 Inje Masters Series," Korea's only endurance race.
"We will continue to support the expansion of motorsport culture and the development of next-generation mobility talent based on our partnership with Ajou Motor College," Lee Byung-jin, vice president of Toyota Motor Korea, said.
