Toyota Motor Korea donated 80 million won ($56,000) to the National Cancer Center (NCC) on Wednesday to support treatment for pediatric and adolescent cancer patients as well as economically disadvantaged patients, the company said Thursday.
Lee Byung-jin, vice president of Toyota Motor Korea, and Yang Han-kwang, director of the National Cancer Center, attended the donation ceremony.
The funds will be used to operate programs supporting the psychological and emotional recovery of pediatric and adolescent cancer patients and to cover treatment costs for patients facing financial hardship.
"We have continued our support with the hope of providing even a small source of strength to young cancer patients and their families who are going through difficult treatment processes," Lee said. "We will continue to show interest and provide support so that these young patients do not lose hope and can return to healthy daily lives."
Toyota Motor Korea has partnered with the National Cancer Center for 25 years since 2001, supporting learning environments and medical expenses for pediatric cancer patients. The company's cumulative donations have reached approximately 1.04 billion won ($730,000).
