
Samsung Electronics' two key business chiefs each received approximately 6 billion won in compensation last year, according to the company's annual report released Monday.
Vice Chairman Jun Young-hyun, who heads the Device Solutions (DS) semiconductor division, received total compensation of 5.606 billion won, comprising 1.711 billion won in salary and 3.578 billion won in bonuses. The company credited his leadership in expanding DRAM and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) sales, which drove the DS division to approximately 130 trillion won in revenue and 25 trillion won in operating profit.
President Roh Tae-moon, who leads the Device eXperience (DX) division overseeing mobile devices and home appliances including Galaxy smartphones, earned 6.125 billion won in total—1.597 billion won in salary and 4.366 billion won in bonuses. Samsung said he strengthened product competitiveness through artificial intelligence-based innovation.
Among other executives, Chief Technology Officer Song Jae-hyuk received 1.843 billion won, while Global Marketing Chief Lee Won-jin earned 7.305 billion won. Former executives who retired last year also received substantial payouts: advisors Jun Kyung-hoon and Shin Myung-hoon received 6.417 billion won and 6.331 billion won respectively, including severance. The late Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee, who passed away last year, received 13.407 billion won including 8.558 billion won in severance.
Total compensation for nine directors and auditors reached 28.052 billion won, averaging 3.006 billion won per person. Average employee compensation also hit a record high of 158 million won, up 21.5 percent year-on-year. Domestic headcount stood at 128,881 at year-end, down slightly but still the largest in the industry.
Samsung also disclosed details of its Performance Share Unit (PSU) program introduced in October to strengthen performance-based management. The company committed to granting 35.29 million shares to approximately 130,000 employees, with final payouts to be determined by stock price performance through October 2028.
