Celltrion is strengthening its market leadership by launching its autoimmune disease treatment infliximab (brand name Remsima) in liquid formulation—the only such product available globally—across European markets.
Celltrion's Nordic subsidiary announced on the 11th that it has successfully won national tenders in Denmark and Norway for Remsima intravenous (IV) liquid formulation. In Norway, sales commenced immediately following the contract award, with product supply continuing through January 2028. The company expects to capture approximately 35% of the local infliximab IV market.
The newly launched liquid formulation significantly simplifies the preparation process compared to conventional lyophilized (freeze-dried) formulations. It reduces preparation time by approximately 50% and cuts labor and consumable costs during medication preparation by around 20%. The formulation also offers superior storage efficiency, reducing storage space and associated costs by up to 70%.
Celltrion has already completed patent registration for the formulation in most countries, including the five major European markets (EU5): the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, among others. With this development, Celltrion has established a full lineup of infliximab products, adding the IV liquid formulation to its portfolio alongside the world's first subcutaneous (SC) formulation.
According to IQVIA, a pharmaceutical market research firm, Remsima products (IV and SC combined) held an overwhelming market-leading 68% share in Europe as of the third quarter of last year. Celltrion's strategy is to maximize profitability by expanding its launch regions from the Nordic countries to France, the Netherlands, and other markets this year.
"The Remsima liquid formulation is an innovative product that reflects the needs of healthcare settings, and it has demonstrated its competitiveness since launch," said Baek Seung-du, Head of Celltrion's Nordic subsidiary. "We will continue to expand prescriptions across Europe through field-focused marketing."
