LG Electronics (066570) has maintained its top position in the global organic light-emitting diode (OLED) TV market for the 13th consecutive year.
According to market research firm Omdia on the 4th, LG Electronics held a 49.7% share of the global OLED TV market last year, retaining its first-place ranking. The company has maintained its leadership in this market since 2012.
The sustained dominance stems from the company holding majority market share in Europe, a key market. LG Electronics shipped 1.59 million OLED TVs in Europe last year, capturing 50.5% of the market—a 5.9% increase from the previous year. The company also secured top positions in other regions, recording 50.1% market share in North America and 62.3% in Asia-Oceania, including South Korea.
LG Electronics is expected to maintain its strong performance as the European TV market continues to grow. European OLED TV shipments surged 12.6% year-over-year to 3.14 million units last year. Rising demand for premium TVs featuring fast response times and high picture quality in the European market further bolsters expectations for LG Electronics' performance. The company has been focusing on supplying premium models with high contrast ratios and superior color reproduction to the European market.
An industry official said, "Europe is a market where watching sports broadcasts such as the Premier League has become part of daily life," adding, "Consumer demand will continue to center on OLED TVs."
