Park Jae-hyun, CEO of Hanmi Pharmaceutical (128940), issued a strong rebuke on Tuesday against Shin Dong-kook, chairman of Hanyang Precision and major shareholder of Hanmi Science (008930), accusing him of "defaming Hanmi as an organization engaged in corruption."

In a message to employees, Park said, "When that recording was made, I did not meet with the major shareholder to request my reappointment." He added, "During our conversation that day, which lasted about 40 minutes, I asked about the reasons for the undue interference in management."
Park continued, "I told the major shareholder, who was treating me and all Hanmi members as a corrupt organization, 'You should not speak that way. I feel insulted.' It was within that context that the topic of my reappointment came up."
"Whether I am reappointed at this shareholders' meeting or not, I do not care," Park said. "However, I will fulfill my role to prove to the major shareholder who is defaming Hanmi that this is absolutely not the case."
He added, "No one can predict how this situation will end, but I believe the major shareholder must make a promise or commitment not to engage in undue management interference for personal gain."
Park criticized Shin further, stating, "Referring to himself as 'president' and saying 'Does a president only work with the prime minister?' contradicts his stated commitment to maintaining a professional management system." He also asked, "Are you confident that nothing will happen if Rosuzet's ingredients are switched to unverified Chinese raw materials?"
Regarding an internal sexual misconduct issue, Park questioned, "Why was the perpetrator informed that an investigation would begin before the official investigation even started?"
Park appealed to employees to protect Hanmi's values. "If you are a member of Hanmi, please do not remain silent against attempts to undermine the 'Lim Sung-ki spirit' that has sustained this company until now. That is the only thing I ask," he said.
