Woomi Construction's elevator design has earned recognition in the global design market.
The company announced on the 3rd that it won a main prize in the Interior Architecture Concept category at the prestigious 2026 iF Design Awards for "The Infinite Chamber."
The award-winning design reinterprets the elevator as a space providing healing and rest for body and mind. An artificial skylight installed in the ceiling creates bright, natural lighting resembling a blue sky within the typically confined elevator interior. The design was praised for offering passengers a sense of openness and psychological calm, as if they were in nature.
The thoughtful "universal design" accommodating users of all ages and various conditions also received favorable reviews. The walls feature built-in fold-out seats that automatically deploy for elderly individuals, pregnant women, and others with mobility challenges or limited stamina. The interior handrails incorporate hygienic antimicrobial copper materials.
A Woomi Construction official said, "Based on 'purity,' the core value pursued by our residential brand 'Leen,' we harmoniously combined honest technology with warm, empathetic consideration." The official added, "This result represents global recognition of Woomi Construction's design philosophy, which seeks to create spaces that anyone can use with peace of mind, rather than focusing on complex and ostentatious technology."
