Under the agreement, the two companies plan to jointly invest approximately 600 billion won ($420 million) over the next four to six years. The project aims to build hyperscale data center infrastructure with cumulative capacity exceeding 100 megawatts at key locations across South Korea.
The partnership's first deliverable will be a 40MW data center in Ansan, which will serve as a new hub for artificial intelligence infrastructure in the Seoul metropolitan area. The facility will be organically connected to Gabia's Gwacheon data center, which specializes in accommodating high-performance GPU servers, creating a complementary integrated infrastructure system.
The two companies plan to continue close cooperation for domestic data center infrastructure expansion. MAIF4 will lead asset development and financing activities, including site acquisition, permitting, and project financing. Gabia, together with its subsidiary KINX, will oversee overall service operations including data center design, network construction, operation, and maintenance.
"This partnership with Gabia is highly significant in South Korea's rapidly growing AI market, driven by active government investment, AI adoption across manufacturing, and rising demand for on-device AI," said Kim Yong-hwan, Korea head of Macquarie Asset Management Group.
Won Jong-hong, co-CEO of Gabia, emphasized, "This collaboration marks a major turning point in expanding Gabia Group's accumulated infrastructure capabilities to hyperscale. Through the Ansan data center, we will respond to explosive AI infrastructure demand and drive our customers' growth."
