Hyundai Mobis (012330) announced on the 3rd that it is hosting a new technology demonstration event for global customers at its winter testing facility in Sweden. Approximately 100 representatives from more than 10 European and North American customers will participate sequentially over the 10-day event.
Hyundai Mobis is mounting new products currently under contract negotiation or scheduled for supply onto demo vehicles for demonstration. The company identifies customer needs through driving evaluations. The approach is expected to enable development and supply of specialized components tailored to customer requirements.
Overseas customers are dispatching large delegations including engineers to the site. Recent visitors personally test-drove demo vehicles equipped with Hyundai Mobis's core component solutions for braking and steering to verify performance. European customers in particular showed strong interest in the next-generation braking system that Hyundai Mobis plans to mass-produce this year, according to the company.
The Hyundai Mobis Sweden winter testing facility spans 1.7 million square meters with 14 tracks simulating snowy and icy road conditions. The site also features specialized calibration and repair facilities to incorporate customer feedback in real time.
Since 2006, Hyundai Mobis has dispatched large R&D teams to the site annually from January through March to validate core components and advanced technologies. This year, the company transported more than 80 vehicles to the location. Testing verifies whether core components under development meet evaluation standards in extreme cold conditions and validates autonomous driving sensors, controllers, and algorithms.
Beyond Sweden, Hyundai Mobis operates a winter testing facility in Heihe, Heilongjiang Province in northern China to validate core components for local Chinese models. In summer, the company leases a testing site in Wanaka in southern New Zealand to conduct year-round R&D validation under extreme cold conditions.
