Han Sung-sook, Minister of SMEs and Startups, has decided to sell three of her four residential properties, keeping only the home where she currently resides.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 9th that Minister Han has listed her officetel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and a detached house in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province, for sale. She also decided to sell her apartment in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, on the same day.
According to the Government Ethics Committee's ad-hoc property registration disclosure last month, Han owns four properties under her name: a detached house in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul; an apartment in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu; a detached house in Yangpyeong-gun; and an officetel in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu.
Han had hesitated to sell the Jamsil apartment until recently because her mother resides there. However, the Lee Jae-myung administration's aggressive regulations targeting multiple-property owners appear to have prompted her decision.
The ministry also noted that a property in Yangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, in which Han holds a partial stake, is co-owned by family members and is not subject to sale.
With these transactions, Han will divest three of her four properties, retaining only the Samcheong-dong house where she currently lives.
