The Korea Fashion Association and Rep. Song Jae-bong of the Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 9th that they will host the "K-Fashion Globalization Policy Forum" at Conference Room No. 8 in the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the 24th of this month.
The forum aims to strengthen the global competitiveness of K-fashion, which is gaining worldwide attention following K-content and K-beauty, and to derive policy tasks and establish mid- to long-term development strategies to foster it as a next-generation growth engine at the national level. As K-fashion emerges as a lifestyle industry embodying Korean sensibilities and identity, the forum is expected to produce effective policy proposals spanning the entire industry, from brand development to manufacturing ecosystem innovation and intellectual property protection.
Prof. Choo Ho-jung of Seoul National University's Department of Clothing and Textiles and Yoon Soon-min, CEO of B.E.F.A., will deliver keynote presentations on K-fashion globalization strategies and plans to build a next-generation apparel manufacturing ecosystem. The panel discussion will feature Lee Jun-bok, CEO of LIE; Ahn Yong-seob, Managing Director of LF's overseas business division; Hwang Geum-i, CEO of Fashion Network Convergence Research Institute; and Jung Jin-gil, expert advisor to Musinsa's Intellectual Property Protection Committee, who will offer policy recommendations based on industry experience.
From the government side, Cho Sung-kyung, Director of the Textile, Carbon and Nano Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Lim Dong-woo, Director of Global Growth Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, will attend to share current policy developments and review the feasibility of incorporating the proposed initiatives into policy.
Sung Rae-eun, Chairman of the Korea Fashion Association, said, "Now that K-fashion's status has risen is the optimal time for global growth," adding, "I hope the various opinions presented at the forum will develop into advanced policy tasks for nurturing global K-fashion brands and serve as an opportunity to strengthen industrial competitiveness."
