Pumpkin announced Wednesday that it has been selected as the implementing agency for Seoul Metropolitan Government's 2026 electric bus fast-charging facility deployment, installation, management, and operation subsidy project, marking its eighth consecutive year as the sole operator of Seoul's electric bus fast-charging subsidy program.
Pumpkin is advancing its electric commercial vehicle charging service system with "operational stability for transport operators" as its top priority in managing Seoul's electric bus charging services.
Electric bus charging requires large-scale power supply and is closely linked to vehicle dispatch and operation schedules. Any charger malfunction or technical issues can affect overall public transportation services.
To address this, Pumpkin plans to systematically manage operational risks through its in-house charger manufacturing technology and self-sufficient on-site maintenance capabilities.
For the successful execution of the 2026 project, Pumpkin is pursuing three key initiatives: upgrading its integrated monitoring system, strengthening on-site response capabilities, and introducing new technologies to optimize depot environments.
In integrated monitoring, the company will improve operational efficiency of charging infrastructure shared by multiple transport operators through analysis of operational data including charger status and vehicle-specific charging history. It will also provide fire safety services linked to electric bus battery analysis.
For on-site response, Pumpkin will standardize rapid dispatch and response procedures using response manuals that incorporate analysis of approximately 120,000 operation and malfunction big data records, centered on its Seoul-dedicated maintenance organization.
Additionally, the company will accelerate the introduction of "overhead fast chargers" capable of simultaneously charging four vehicles to address space constraints and traffic congestion issues at Seoul's public depots. The overhead chargers are expected to enhance space utilization and support stable charging service operations by securing efficient charging traffic flow even in depot environments with limited construction space.
As Seoul shifts its 2026 project direction from "installation-focused" to "installation, operation, and post-management"-based charging services, Pumpkin said this selection once again demonstrates its operational capabilities and reliability for expanding large-scale electric commercial vehicle charging infrastructure.
Based on its accumulated large-scale charging station operation track record and advanced service system, Pumpkin plans to pursue enhanced commercial vehicle-dedicated charging services that reflect demands from local governments and transport operators.
