Fujifilm Business Innovation (Fujifilm BI), the parent company of Fujifilm Business Innovation Korea, has received the "Platinum Medal," the highest rating in this year's sustainability assessment by EcoVadis, a global environmental, social and governance (ESG) rating agency, the Korean unit said Thursday.
Fujifilm BI has demonstrated excellence and consistency in ESG management by achieving the platinum rating for the fourth time. EcoVadis, founded in France in 2007, is a global supply chain ESG rating agency that evaluates and certifies corporate ESG policies. The agency assesses more than 150,000 companies across some 180 countries, with the platinum medal awarded only to the top 1 percent of companies.
Fujifilm BI has consistently scored above 90 points in the environmental category each year and maintained scores above 80 points in labor, human rights and ethics categories, demonstrating strong performance across all areas. The company has strengthened its ESG competitiveness by making climate change response and resource circulation core strategies and continuing to invest in carbon reduction technologies and eco-friendly design.
Key environmental achievements include the development of "Super EA-Eco Toner," which reduces carbon emissions by approximately 54 percent through low-temperature fusing technology, resource conservation through product miniaturization and weight reduction, and eco-friendly product design that considers reuse and recycling throughout the product lifecycle.
Fujifilm Business Innovation Korea has also been expanding its "re-resource activities" since 2011, collecting used equipment and parts for recycling in line with the group's resource circulation strategy targeting zero carbon emissions in manufacturing processes by 2040. The company achieved a 98 percent re-resource rate this year. Since 2015, it has reused approximately 31,000 units of equipment and recycled approximately 110,000 units.
In labor, human rights and ethics, the company has been strengthening policies and training systems aligned with global standards. It has institutionalized company-wide ethics training since 2019 and annually enhances employees' compliance and ethical awareness through "Understand, Comply, Execute" pledges.
"This platinum medal represents another global recognition of Fujifilm BI's ESG efforts," said Jun Hatogai, CEO of Fujifilm Business Innovation Korea. "We will further strengthen our sustainable manufacturing and operational foundation and expand responsible management throughout our supply chain to contribute to building a sustainable society."
