Korea Insurance Institute is accelerating plans to establish a subsidiary focused on artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency by launching a recruitment drive for related talent.
According to financial industry sources on Wednesday, the institute is accepting applications until January 21 for personnel to handle AI, Web3, and crypto-related education as well as platform planning and operations.
The job responsibilities include token economy model design, cooperation with blockchain-related organizations, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) learning management system (LMS) business structure design, and insurance company partnership development, drawing significant industry attention. The position also involves cooperation with blockchain associations and overseas related organizations.
The mention of "token economy model design" as a key responsibility has sparked speculation that the institute may be considering issuing cryptocurrency, as this typically refers to issuing virtual currencies to reward participants in the industry.
While the positions are contract-based, a clause stating "expected to transfer to subsidiary upon establishment of related business subsidiary" suggests the hiring is part of internal preparations to secure talent for a new subsidiary. Institute President Ha Tae-kyung has shown strong interest in AI and cryptocurrency, presenting a vision to develop the institute into an AI-based solutions company. He has been reviewing plans to establish a subsidiary providing educational AI solutions.
"The subsidiary establishment has not been finalized as board procedures remain," a Korea Insurance Institute official said. "We are reviewing various approaches the institute can take to proactively promote cryptocurrency adoption, and various options including a subsidiary or internal venture could be discussed."
