The Korea Heritage Service announced on the 22nd that it has appointed Jang Heon-deok, 70, professor emeritus in the Department of Heritage Technology at Korea National University of Cultural Heritage, as the fifth chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of Traditional Architecture Repair Technology. His term is three years.
Jang, the new chairman, is regarded as an expert in the field of cultural heritage architecture and preservation. He has served as a full-time expert advisor at the Cultural Heritage Administration (now the Korea Heritage Service), a professor in the Department of Traditional Architecture at Korea National University of Cultural Heritage, dean of academic affairs, and dean of the Graduate School of Cultural Heritage.
The Foundation for the Promotion of Traditional Architecture Repair Technology is a special corporation under the Korea Heritage Service, established in 2017 to promote traditional architecture repair technology, along with the systematic collection, preservation, investigation, and research of traditional architectural components and materials, and the transmission of traditional materials and techniques.
