NOL, operated by Nol Universe, said on the 10th that it is unveiling a beta version of its "Discovery" service, which recommends travel and leisure content tailored to users' tastes without requiring them to search directly.
Discovery is a service that displays travel and leisure products such as lodging, performances, and activities in a feed format. Users can browse trending travel destinations, popular accommodations, performances, and activities that have gained attention on social networking services (SNS) from the Discovery tab at the top of the NOL app's main screen, and book desired products directly.
Previously, users had to first decide on a destination or product and then search for it. Discovery allows users to browse content and select travel and leisure products even without a specific destination in mind. NOL plans to use the service to increase app visits not only when users are planning trips but also in their everyday lives.
The company uses artificial intelligence (AI) to curate and produce content. The AI analyzes travel and leisure trends on SNS, along with search volume, booking volume, and customer reviews within NOL, to identify topics of high interest. It then automatically handles related image collection, product linkage, and content creation.
User behavioral data, such as searches and bookings, is also reflected in the recommendations. Based on this, NOL plans to provide different travel destinations, lodging, and performance and activity content for each user.
"This is a service that goes beyond having customers search for the products they want, proactively suggesting new travel and leisure content," said Yoon Hyun-mo, Chief Product Officer at Nol Universe. "We will advance personalized recommendations by leveraging travel and leisure data and AI technology."
