
SCL Science (246960.KQ) said on the 8th that its Class 4 absorbable hemostatic agent InnoSEAL Plus DL recently obtained a treatment material code at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital and completed shipment of its initial batch.
InnoSEAL Plus DL is a third-generation innovative hemostatic agent based on chitosan-catechol (CHI-C), a chemical polymer that mimics the adhesion mechanism of mussels. Because it acts completely independently of the body's blood coagulation system, it can deliver consistent hemostatic efficacy even in patients taking anticoagulants such as warfarin or those with blood clotting disorders. It is an improved successor to InnoSEAL Plus, which was developed by InnoTherapy, a startup founded by KAIST alumni, and approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The company changed to its current name after being acquired by SCL Group at the end of 2022. For the company, the development carries significant meaning as it secures a bridgehead into Korea's "Big Five" hospitals about a year after InnoSEAL Plus DL received health insurance reimbursement pricing in 2025.
According to SCL Science, InnoSEAL Plus DL (11x5cm) is priced at 239,950 won per unit based on the health insurance reimbursement ceiling. Considering that a foreign standard fibrin patch (9.5x4.8cm) costs 382,395 won, its unit price per area is only about 50% of the foreign product. The company expects to expand its share of domestic and overseas hemostatic agent markets on the back of superior price competitiveness and hemostatic efficacy compared with foreign products.
"We are currently working to expand treatment material codes at the five hospitals under the Catholic Medical Center," an SCL Science official said. "Through this, we expect to generate stable prescription volume of about 1,500 units per month."
"Following our entry into Korea's 'Big Five' hospitals, we plan to target the emergency and military supply markets and accelerate our push into the global hemostatic agent market," the official added. "We will also step up the expansion of additional product lineups, including fish-skin wound dressings, to continue driving innovation in biomimetic medical devices."
