Huons N, an affiliate of Huons (243070.KQ) Group, has completed the expansion of its Chuncheon plant, strengthening its health functional food production capabilities.
Huons N said it held a completion ceremony for the plant expansion on the 9th at its Chuncheon plant in Dongnae-myeon, Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. The ceremony was attended by Huons Group Chairman Yoon Sung-tae and other senior executives, along with Chuncheon Mayor Yook Dong-han and officials from the city's investment promotion division.
With the expansion, the Chuncheon plant's alcohol extraction capacity increased by approximately 200% to 10,000 tons per year. The company also built a new water extraction facility with an annual capacity of 6,500 tons, raising total annual production capacity to 16,500 tons.
The expanded plant was designed with a focus on improving safety and productivity. It features process safety management facilities at the highest level in Korea and applies explosion-proof equipment to all processes, enhancing the safety of the alcohol extraction process. The company also introduced six large-capacity 6-kiloliter (kL) extractors and a high-efficiency concentration system, establishing a foundation to meet large-scale production demand.
Huons N has built up its quality and production capabilities by supplying natural product extract ingredients to major customers, including Nonghyup Red Ginseng. With this expansion, the company plans to expand production of health functional food ingredients while strengthening its competitiveness in various natural product ingredient businesses.
The newly built facilities will begin full operation in the middle of this month. Huons N plans to expand production of red ginseng concentrate, its flagship product, while also increasing production of ingredients related to liver health, eye health, and joint health. The company also plans to expand its business into herbal medicines, cosmetics, and natural fragrances, as well as the market for individually recognized health functional food ingredients.

"Based on our newly built extraction facilities, we will respond reliably to the demand of domestic and overseas customers and continue to enhance the competitiveness of our natural product ingredient business."
