Korean pharmaceutical and biotech companies will unveil their achievements in developing new drugs and artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostic technologies at the world's largest dementia and Alzheimer's conference. With even global big pharma struggling to develop new drugs, attention is focused on what differentiated technological capabilities domestic firms will present in the treatment and diagnostic fields.
According to the biotech industry Monday, AriBio and Neurophet (380550) will unveil major clinical results and diagnostic technologies at the "Alzheimer's Association International Conference (AAIC) 2026," to be held in London, United Kingdom, from the 12th to the 15th. AAIC is the largest academic event in the dementia field, where dementia researchers, clinicians, and medical staff from around the world gather to share the latest research achievements.
First, AriBio, with CEO Jung Jae-jun and others in attendance, will hold one oral presentation and four poster presentations. In the oral presentation, the company plans to present the progress of the global Phase 3 clinical trial (POLARIS-AD) of its oral Alzheimer's treatment candidate "AR1001," along with additional analysis results from its Phase 2 clinical trial. In the poster presentations, it will unveil the post-hoc analysis results of the Phase 2 clinical trial analyzing the long-term dosing effects of AR1001, as well as the interim results of the Phase 2a clinical trial of "AR1005," a treatment candidate for Lewy body dementia.
Illimis Therapeutics will present preclinical data on an amyloid beta-targeting treatment that is preparing to enter clinical trials. In particular, it plans to unveil for the first time animal testing and preclinical data on a platform expanded to target tau protein, which is closely related to the progression of Alzheimer's disease.
Neurophet will set up an exhibition booth to showcase its AI-based brain imaging analysis solution "Neurophet AQUA AD Plus." This solution is a technology that selects patients eligible for anti-amyloid antibody treatment based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) images, and monitors treatment effects and side effects.
PeopleBio (304840) will present research results as a poster that advance its Parkinson's disease blood diagnostic technology. This research is characterized by analyzing not only existing alpha-synuclein blood diagnostic technology but also immune proteins that change together during the aggregation process.
