Hot weather will continue across inland areas on Monday, with showers expected throughout the country from noon.
A high-pressure system over the East Sea will push daytime highs above 30 degrees Celsius and the maximum apparent temperature to around 31 degrees, bringing scorching heat.
Morning lows are forecast at 16 to 21 degrees, and daytime highs at 24 to 33 degrees. Expected lows and highs for major cities are 21 and 32 degrees in Seoul, 21 and 29 degrees in Incheon, 20 and 32 degrees in Daejeon and Gwangju, 18 and 31 degrees in Daegu, 17 and 27 degrees in Ulsan, and 19 and 27 degrees in Busan.
Between afternoon and evening, showers will fall mainly in western regions, including inland Seoul and Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, inland Chungcheong, inland Jeolla, and inland western Gyeongnam. These areas may see gusts, thunder, and lightning, while the greater Seoul area and Gangwon Province could receive strong showers of around 20 millimeters per hour. Drivers should pay close attention to traffic safety, as the showers may reduce visibility and leave roads slippery.
From dawn through morning, fog reducing visibility to less than 1 kilometer may form in inland Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the Chungnam region, the Jeolla region, and inland western Gyeongnam. Sea fog will also form over the western part of the southern sea and the East Sea.
Fine dust levels are expected to range from "good" to "moderate" across all regions.
