Early summer heat will continue Friday, June 12, with daytime highs reaching around 30 degrees Celsius in the central inland and southern regions.
Morning lows were forecast at 12 to 18 degrees, with daytime highs of 26 to 30 degrees. Temperatures will be similar to the seasonal average (morning lows of 15 to 18 degrees and daytime highs of 23 to 28 degrees), though daytime temperatures will be slightly above average in some areas.
Highs will reach around 30 degrees, centered on parts of the central inland and southern regions, with 30 degrees in Daegu and Pohang; 29 degrees in Gwangju, Jeonju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Cheongju and Gangneung; and 28 degrees in Seoul.
Showers will fall in the central and northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon between noon and evening, possibly accompanied by gusts, thunder and lightning, requiring caution. Expected rainfall is 5 to 10 millimeters in the central and northern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon. In areas with rain, visibility may sharply decrease and some roads may be slippery. Drivers should maintain sufficient safe distances and slow down.
Waves will run 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the coastal waters of the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 meters in the coastal waters of the West Sea. Wave heights in the inner offshore waters (offshore areas within about 200 kilometers of the coastline) are expected to be 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the West Sea.
Fine dust levels are expected to be "good" to "moderate" across all regions.
Ozone concentrations are expected to be at "bad" levels in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, Chungcheong, Honam and Yeongnam regions. Other regions will see "moderate" levels. Amid an inflow of ozone from abroad, concentrations are expected to rise in the afternoon in most areas due to the generation and movement of ozone from photochemical reactions of air pollutants.
