Seoul National University Bundang Hospital said on the 11th that Jeon Young-tae, its 15th hospital director, held an official inauguration ceremony on the 10th and formally began his term.
Newly appointed director Jeon took office on the 1st of this month, beginning a three-year term. An anesthesiology and pain medicine specialist, Jeon has held key positions at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, including head of public relations, head of planning and coordination, and deputy director of medical affairs. In particular, during his tenure as deputy director of medical affairs, he is credited with proactively driving the transition of the hospital's structure as a tertiary general hospital, leading the advancement of a treatment system centered on severe, rare, intractable, and complex diseases, and greatly contributing to strengthening the foundation of public healthcare as a regional responsible medical institution. As president of the Korean Society of Anesthesiologists, he has also worked to raise awareness of the importance of anesthesiology, a foundation of essential medical care.
At the inauguration ceremony held the previous day, Jeon declared "a global leader opening a new chapter in future medicine" as his management goal and presented three core tasks: becoming a center of future medical innovation, building a region-complete essential and public healthcare system, and fostering a hospital culture of shared growth.
Jeon said, "Seoul National University Bundang Hospital is evolving into a true 'intelligent AI hospital,' with artificial intelligence (AI) integrated across the entire treatment process," adding, "Going forward, we will become a center of innovation that sets the direction of change, rather than a hospital that merely adapts to it."
