AriBio Joins Eli Lilly's AI Drug Platform to Advance Alzheimer's Therapies

AriBio is moving to advance its development of Alzheimer's disease treatments by joining the artificial intelligence (AI) drug discovery platform of global big pharma Eli Lilly.

AriBio said Monday that it would officially join Lilly's AI drug discovery platform, "Lilly TuneLab." The company plans to combine more than a decade of accumulated neuroscience research data with Lilly's AI and machine learning models to improve the efficiency of developing central nervous system (CNS) treatments.

Lilly TuneLab is an AI drug discovery platform built on research data Lilly has accumulated over several decades. It has been trained on hundreds of thousands of molecular structure data sets, as well as pharmacokinetics (PK), safety, and preclinical research results. Participating companies can strengthen prediction-based decision-making across the entire process, from candidate discovery to preclinical and clinical development.

In particular, TuneLab is designed based on federated learning, allowing participating companies to contribute to improving AI model performance without transferring their own data externally. Under this approach, data is kept within each company while only the AI model is trained and enhanced, enabling collaboration while reducing concerns over leaks of sensitive research information. AriBio expects that combining its own AI-based drug discovery platform "ARIDD" with TuneLab will improve the efficiency and precision of the entire drug development process.

The company is currently conducting a global Phase 3 trial of AR1001, a multi-mechanism Alzheimer's disease treatment, and a Phase 2 trial of AR1005, a treatment for dementia with Lewy bodies. Through this collaboration, the company's strategy is to raise the likelihood of drug development success across the full cycle of candidate discovery, mechanism validation, and preclinical and clinical development.
