
South Korea will be mostly cloudy on Thursday with scattered showers across the country, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.
According to the KMA, showers are forecast across most regions from morning through evening. Rain is expected to continue into late night in Gangwon Province, the northern part of North Chungcheong Province, the inland areas of northern North Gyeongsang Province, and the mountainous areas of northeastern North Gyeongsang Province.
Expected rainfall is 5 to 40 millimeters in Seoul, Incheon, and the western part of Gyeonggi Province, and 5 to 60 millimeters in eastern Gyeonggi Province. Inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon Province are forecast to receive 5 to 60 millimeters, while the eastern coast of Gangwon is expected to see 5 to 20 millimeters.
In the Chungcheong region, the northern part of North Chungcheong Province will receive 5 to 60 millimeters, while inland areas of Daejeon, Sejong, and South Chungcheong Province, along with the central and southern parts of North Chungcheong Province, will see 5 to 40 millimeters. Inland areas of North Jeolla Province and Gwangju, as well as inland South Jeolla Province, are forecast to receive 5 to 30 millimeters.
In the Yeongnam region, inland areas of northern North Gyeongsang Province and the mountainous areas of northeastern North Gyeongsang Province are expected to receive 5 to 60 millimeters, while Daegu, the central inland and southwestern inland areas of North Gyeongsang Province, and the northwestern inland areas of South Gyeongsang Province will see 5 to 30 millimeters. Jeju Island is expected to receive 5 to 40 millimeters of rain.
Areas with showers may experience gusty winds along with thunder and lightning, and some areas may see hail, requiring caution for facility management and safety accidents.
The heat will persist despite the rain. Daytime temperatures are expected to climb to around 30 degrees Celsius in some inland areas, so health management is also advised.
Morning lows are forecast at 16 to 21 degrees, while daytime highs will range from 22 to 29 degrees.
Wave heights will reach 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the coastal waters of the East Sea and South Sea, and 0.5 meters in the coastal waters of the West Sea. Wave heights in the nearer offshore waters of the East Sea, West Sea, and South Sea are all expected to be 0.5 to 2.0 meters.
