About 40,000 people applied for an unconventional part-time job opening jointly organized by Lotte World Adventure and Karrot Market.
Lotte World Adventure said roughly 40,000 people applied for the Maple Story-linked "Karrot Alba" recruitment held from May 18 to 29. A total of five people will be selected.
The part-time job is an experiential promotion in which selected workers play the role of non-player characters (NPCs) from the game at the "Maple Island Zone" inside Lotte World Adventure. The selected part-timers will wear NPC-themed uniforms for one day on June 5 and guide visitors through special quests. The working hours are one hour, with an hourly wage of 1 million won.
Selected applicants will also receive Maple Story collaboration merchandise. Lotte World will provide a "Pink Bean LED popcorn bucket" and an "Orange Mushroom plush hat" worth 50,000 won, along with priority access to three new Maple Story-themed attractions that opened in April this year.
Lotte World Adventure believes the combination of a gaming intellectual property (IP) with a theme park experience drew applicants' interest. The short working hours, high compensation, and limited-edition merchandise benefits generated buzz online from the early days of recruitment.
The Maple Island Zone at Lotte World Adventure operates year-round. The spring season festival "Maple Story in Lotte World" runs through the 14th.
