Travel demand for the United States, Canada, and Mexico is reviving ahead of the 2026 North American World Cup. Travelers are increasingly looking to combine match attendance with city and nature tourism in host countries, prompting travel agencies to expand their North American offerings, including independent travel, semi-packages, and match-viewing products.
According to the travel industry on the 30th, payment volume from travelers to the three North American countries — the United States, Canada, and Mexico — on MyRealTrip rose 20.6% over the past year compared with the same period a year earlier. With next year's World Cup set to be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and long-haul travel demand recovering, interest in the North American region is growing.
Canada is showing the most pronounced increase in demand within North America. Payment volume from Canada-bound travelers on MyRealTrip jumped 59.4% from the previous 12 months, a higher growth rate than the United States and Mexico. The most popular destinations were Vancouver, Toronto, and Banff, in that order — a reflection of demand to combine major cities such as Vancouver and Toronto with natural attractions like Banff.
Package tour operators are also expanding their Canada offerings. Kyowon Tour's travel brand Travel Easy saw Canada package bookings jump 81% year-on-year between January and April this year. In response, Kyowon Tour launched a "Complete Tour of Canada" product, an 11-day itinerary covering Vancouver, Banff, Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec. The multi-leg trip enters through Vancouver and exits via Toronto, allowing travelers to see the western Rocky Mountains and major eastern cities in a single trip.
Canada is regarded as a long-haul destination where city, nature, and content tourism can easily be packaged into a single itinerary. The Kyowon Tour product includes Banff National Park, Niagara Falls, Niagara Falls wineries, and a city cruise experience. In Quebec, the itinerary includes the Chateau Frontenac Hotel — known as a drama filming location — Dufferin Terrace, and Petit Champlain Street, with accommodations within Old Quebec.
Mexico has also seen rising package demand, driven in part by sports tourism. Payment volume from Mexico-bound travelers on MyRealTrip rose 24.3% from the previous 12 months. While demand had previously centered on short-term activities, longer-stay travel and sports-viewing trips have expanded recently, pushing up per-capita spending. MyRealTrip is also operating a two-night, three-day tour to attend South Korea's third group-stage World Cup match in Monterrey, Mexico.
U.S. travel demand also showed steady growth. Payment volume for the United States on MyRealTrip rose 15.6% from the previous 12 months. Demand was spread across major cities including Los Angeles, New York, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
"As travel demand centered on attending sports events grows, interest in North American travel is also rising," a travel industry official said. "Products that allow travelers to experience not only the matches but also the nature and culture of host cities will continue to expand."
