The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) announced on the 30th that it will host "2026 MMCA Night: Frequencies of the Night," an after-hours cultural event combining art and electronic music, at its Seoul branch in Jongno-gu on June 10.
"MMCA Night" has been the museum's signature after-hours cultural event, selling out every year since its debut in 2017. This year, the program will run three times in June, September and November, with June marking the opening session. The first event will be held in the Seoul Box, the iconic space at the Seoul branch where "Damien Hirst: There Is No Truth, But Everything Is Possible" is currently on view, delivering more intense energy than ever alongside the artworks.
The "2026 MMCA Night: Frequencies of the Night" will feature collaborative performances by two musical acts known for their distinctive musical narratives. The lineup includes the three-member electronic band Idiotape and the convergence group Azikajin Magic World. The performers will stage compelling productions in dialogue with Hirst's installation works "Myth" (2010) and the "Spot Wall" (2026) series.
All performances will be standing-only, and advance reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis for 500 attendees through the museum's website. Pre-sales for paid museum members begin at 2 p.m. on June 1, while general booking opens at 2 p.m. on June 2. The full participation fee will be donated in the names of attendees to World Vision's art therapy program for children.
"Through this event, where the works of contemporary art master Damien Hirst breathe in harmony with electronic music, we hope visitors to the museum on an early summer night will fully enjoy artistic inspiration that transcends time and space, while also sharing the warmth of giving," an MMCA official said.
