Boy group CORTIS has become the first boy group to debut a comeback at the top of Melon's weekly chart this year.
"REDRED," the title track of CORTIS's (Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyun, Keonho) second mini-album, ranked No. 1 on Melon's latest weekly chart, covering May 18 to 24. Given that the chart reflects not only streaming counts but also actual listener reach, the achievement is seen as evidence that the group has secured both mainstream attention and a broad fan base.
"REDRED" debuted at No. 64 on the weekly chart after its release, then climbed to No. 9 in the first week of May and No. 3 in the second week before reaching the top. On Melon's daily chart, the song has held the No. 1 position for eight consecutive days from May 19 to May 26. Among boy groups that debuted within the last five years, CORTIS is the first to top both Melon's daily and weekly charts. The group also topped the Bugs weekly chart for two consecutive weeks and Spotify Korea's "Weekly Top Songs" for four consecutive weeks.
Global performance has followed suit. CORTIS became the first K-pop boy group to debut within the past five years to enter Spotify's major charts. The group has remained on Spotify's global daily chart for 34 consecutive days, peaking at No. 36, and on its global weekly chart for four consecutive weeks, sustaining long-term momentum. As of May 25, the group's monthly listeners on Spotify exceeded 12.11 million, ranking among the top tier of all-time K-pop boy groups alongside BTS. On Apple Music's "Top 100: Korea" daily chart, the song has held the No. 1 spot for 31 consecutive days.
The group has also made its presence felt in the U.S. market. "REDRED" ranked No. 17 on Billboard's "Bubbling Under Hot 100" chart dated May 16, advancing to the cusp of the official "Hot 100" and demonstrating its potential for global growth. The second mini-album "GREENGREEN" also ranked No. 3 on Billboard's main album chart "Billboard 200" dated May 23. Excluding project groups, this marks the fastest entry into the top three by a K-pop group following its debut.
The album's other tracks have also drawn strong responses. While "TNT" and "ACAI" continue to attract steady support, "YOUNGCREATORCREW" has gained attention for its addictive melody and distinctive lyrics. In particular, the repeated phrase "YoungCC" in the song has spread like a buzzword symbolizing the young and hip generation, establishing itself as a meme.
CORTIS is set to perform at the Weverse Con Festival, to be held on June 7 at the KSPO DOME and 88 Lawn Field in Olympic Park, Seoul. The group will subsequently appear at major global music festivals including the "Allo Bank Festival" in Jakarta, Indonesia, and "Lollapalooza Chicago" in the United States.
