The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Choi Hwi-young), together with the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (President Park Chang-sik) and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (President Kim Kyung-bae), held "KDAY," a convergence cultural event encompassing hanbok and the broader "K-Lifestyle," at the NEX HALL of Siam Paragon, a major shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand, on May 23-24, the ministry announced Wednesday.
KDAY is a cultural event that brings together various K-Lifestyle industries, including fashion, beauty, and food, reflecting the trend of globally popular K-Culture evolving from a content-focused phenomenon centered on films and dramas into a diverse range of fields. This year marked its inaugural edition.
The Bangkok edition featured K-fashion (designer hanbok) as its core theme, offering a variety of programs that blended Korea's traditional beauty with contemporary sensibilities. A total of approximately 6,000 local visitors attended the event.
Building on the success of the Bangkok event, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to bring KDAY to Tokyo, Japan, this October. The Japan edition will center on a designer hanbok showcase and fashion show, with additional differentiated programs designed to reflect local Japanese sensibilities and cultural context.
