The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is soliciting media art works to be screened on a massive media wall near Cheonggyecheon Stream in central Seoul.
The KTO said it will hold the "2026 Hiker Media Art Competition" from the 26th through July 31. The competition aims to discover works that reinterpret Korea's appeal through media art.
Winning entries will be screened on "Hiker Wall," the signature space at Hiker Ground in Jung-gu, Seoul. Hiker Wall is an oversized media wall measuring 32 meters in length. Citizens and tourists visiting the Cheonggyecheon and Gwanghwamun areas can view it freely. Hiker Ground draws an average of about 2,500 visitors per day.
The competition theme is "KOREA IN MOTION: Experience a Moving Korea." Participants can choose one of four keywords — the flow of emotion, the movement of space, the rhythm of the city, and the breath of nature — to produce a video showcasing Korea's appeal.
Any individual or team capable of producing media art videos may participate, regardless of nationality. The KTO will select a total of 10 works through expert review.
The grand prize team will receive the KTO President's Award and 10 million won in prize money. The top excellence award team will receive 6 million won, and two excellence award teams will each receive 2 million won. All 10 winning works, including those from the six runners-up, will be aired on Hiker Wall. Application methods and details are available on the official Hiker Ground website.
"Hiker Wall is a media platform where visitors can experience Korean tourism and K-content in a sensory way," said Yoon Sung-wook, head of the KTO's Tourism Promotion Center Operations Team. "We hope this competition will serve as an opportunity for creators at home and abroad to express Korea in their own way and communicate with tourists around the world."
