The National Jeongdong Theater (CEO Seo Seung-man), affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Association of Culture & Arts Centers (Chairman So Hong-sam) to revitalize regional arts and culture and expand the distribution of high-quality performance content, the theater announced Wednesday.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate across multiple areas, including expanding regional distribution of the National Jeongdong Theater's premier performance content, building exchange and cooperation networks to invigorate cultural distribution, and creating a stable environment for the performing arts ecosystem.
"We hope this opportunity will serve as a catalyst for the differentiated performance content the National Jeongdong Theater has accumulated to reach a wider regional audience," CEO Seo Seung-man said, according to the National Jeongdong Theater. "If the content production capabilities and networks of both organizations are combined, we will be able to bridge the cultural gap between the Seoul metropolitan area and the regions, and expand the social value of the performing arts."
So Hong-sam, chairman of the Korea Association of Culture & Arts Centers, said, "We hope this will provide an opportunity to introduce the National Jeongdong Theater's premier performance content to regional arts centers, while also presenting regionally produced content to Seoul audiences through the National Jeongdong Theater, thereby strengthening mutual performance distribution functions between Seoul and the regions." He added, "Furthermore, we hope that joint productions between the National Jeongdong Theater and regional arts centers will also be pursued."
