
Rain will fall across South Korea on Thursday, the 21st, before largely clearing in the afternoon. However, rain will continue until evening in some areas of Gangwon's east coast and mountainous regions, as well as Jeju Island. Central regions and the Gyeongbuk area are expected to gradually clear from the afternoon.
Heavy rain is particularly expected in central regions and along the southern coast, making umbrellas essential for the morning commute.
Expected rainfall is 30 to 80 millimeters in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province and the five West Sea islands, with some areas of Incheon, Gyeonggi's western coast and the five West Sea islands receiving more than 100 millimeters. Gangwon's east coast and mountainous areas are forecast to receive 50 to 100 millimeters, with mountainous regions of Gangwon expected to see more than 150 millimeters in some locations. Inland Gangwon is expected to receive 30 to 80 millimeters.
In the Chungcheong region, Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong and North Chungcheong will see 30 to 80 millimeters of rain, with the northern coast of South Chungcheong potentially receiving more than 100 millimeters. Gwangju, South Jeolla and North Jeolla are expected to receive 20 to 60 millimeters, with the southern coast of South Jeolla seeing as much as 80 millimeters or more. The Gyeongsang region is forecast to receive 20 to 80 millimeters, while Jeju Island is expected to see 10 to 80 millimeters, with mountainous areas of Jeju potentially receiving more than 120 millimeters.
Strong winds and high waves also require caution. Morning lows are forecast at 13 to 19 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs of 17 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Coastal waves will reach 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the South Sea. Offshore wave heights are expected to range from 1.0 to 5.0 meters in the East Sea, 1.0 to 3.0 meters in the West Sea, and 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the South Sea.
