Lotte World Adventure said Tuesday that cumulative visitors to its "Create Your Own Character" experience, developed in collaboration with Nexon's "Maple Story," have surpassed 100,000. The interactive content, which allows users to display game characters modeled after their own faces on a 10-meter-wide digital screen, has gone viral among the MZ generation.
Since March, Lotte World has been running "Maple Story in Lotte World," a spring festival produced in partnership with Nexon. The centerpiece is the "Create Your Own Character" experience at the Meeting Plaza on the first floor of the Adventure park. Visitors scan a QR code, upload a photo of themselves, and create a Maple Story character that they can customize with hairstyles, outfits, and accessories.
Completed characters can then be displayed on a 10-meter screen installed inside the Adventure park. The experience zone has also been designed to reflect the Maple Story universe. Sculptures of signature monsters such as "Orange Mushroom," "Slime," and "Stone Spirit" are on display, and the entire entrance area of the Adventure park has been turned into a photo zone.
Existing Maple Story players are also visiting in growing numbers. Through the game-linked app "Maple Hands+," players can import their actual in-game characters directly into the experience. For longtime players, the ability to bring characters they have nurtured for years into an offline space has emerged as a novel form of engagement.
Lotte World will run the "Maple Story in Lotte World" festival through June 14. A new parade unit themed around "Ludibrium," a location within the Maple Story universe, was added on April 24.
