Jaseng Medical Foundation, which operates Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, announced Thursday that it is holding a veterans-themed art exhibition under the theme "Proud Heroes of Korea in Everyday Life" at Gwangbok Hall in Yeouido, Seoul.
The exhibition was organized to mark Family Month, encouraging families to reflect together on historical values. Gwangbok Hall was chosen as the venue because it is a symbolic space that preserves the history of Korea's independence movement.
The exhibition features winning works from the "4th Veterans Content Contest," sponsored by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and hosted by Jaseng Medical Foundation last year in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation. Visitors can view artistic reinterpretations of the lives of those who devoted themselves to the nation, including soldiers, police officers, firefighters, and independence activists. Highlights include grand prize winner Kang Yong-jin's "Danji Spirit, Koreans," which draws on patriot Ahn Jung-geun's finger-cutting spirit to convey the inheritance of patriotism across eras, and gold prize winner Hwang Byung-pil's "1907 Anti-Japanese Righteous Army Herography Drawn with the National Anthem." The exhibition is free and open to anyone visiting the Gwangbok Hall lobby through May 20.
Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine has contributed to expanding honors for persons of national merit and spreading veterans culture through medical, living, and housing support programs for patriots, war and independence veterans, and their bereaved families. In recognition of these efforts, the hospital received the Veterans Culture Award at the "25th Veterans Culture Awards Ceremony" hosted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in 2024.
