GeoYoung, Korea's largest pharmaceutical distribution company, said Tuesday it has donated approximately 20,000 units of medicines worth a total of 480 million won ($350,000) to socially vulnerable groups in celebration of Family Month.
The donated medicines were delivered through the Community Chest of Korea's Seoul branch (Fruit of Love) to organizations that directly support vulnerable populations, including the Korea New Life Welfare Foundation and the Korea Health and Medical Service Association. Among the donations, over-the-counter medicines such as vitamins will be used to help maintain the basic health of vulnerable groups who have limited access to medical care.
GeoYoung said it plans to continue providing pharmaceutical support for socially vulnerable groups, including assistance for various nursing facilities and health protection for low-income households. The initiative is aimed at realizing the company's core value of "bringing prosperity to the world we live in" through social contribution activities.
"Pharmaceutical distribution goes beyond simple logistics to serve as public infrastructure that supports national health," said Cho Sun-hye, chairwoman of GeoYoung. "As Korea's No. 1 pharmaceutical distribution company, we will continue to fulfill our social responsibility."
