
Korean author Lee Geum-yi, who was named a finalist for the Hans Christian Andersen Award, often called the "Nobel Prize of Children's Literature," did not win the prize.
The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) held the Andersen Award ceremony at the 63rd Bologna Children's Book Fair, the world's largest children's book exhibition, which opened in Bologna, Italy on Monday. British author Michael Rosen was selected as the winner from among six finalists.
Lee was named a finalist in the writing category for the second consecutive year, following her nomination in 2024. The Andersen Award was established in 1956 in honor of Danish fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen and is one of the most prestigious children's literature awards in the world. The award is presented every two years to one author and one illustrator who have made significant contributions to children's literature.
