Jeong Seong-jin, a professor of urology at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, has been inaugurated as the 14th president of the Korean Spinal Cord Society. His term runs for one year, from March 2026 to February 2027.
The Korean Spinal Cord Society is a professional organization that conducts multidisciplinary research and education in spinal cord injury and spinal cord disease. Specialists from multiple departments participate, including urology, rehabilitation medicine, neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery. The society has established clinical guidelines and treatment standards through exchanges with international academic organizations, operates education programs for medical professionals and continues support activities for the rehabilitation and social reintegration of spinal cord disease patients.
Jeong, the incoming president, is an expert in voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence and neurogenic bladder. He has led research in neurogenic bladder treatment for spinal cord disease patients and in the diagnosis and treatment of underactive bladder in elderly patients.
"I will continue to promote academic conferences and education programs to advance scholarship and strengthen professional expertise in the spinal cord disease field," Jeong said. "I will also work to build a support system that covers treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration for spinal cord disease patients."
