BTS's fifth studio album "ARIRANG" has become the first K-pop album to top the Billboard 200, the main U.S. album chart, for two consecutive weeks.
Billboard announced through a chart preview article on Monday (local time) that BTS's fifth album held the No. 1 spot for a second straight week, beating hip-hop star Kanye West (Ye)'s new album "BULLY" (No. 2) and Melanie Martinez's "HADES" (No. 3).
This marks the first time a K-pop artist's album has topped the Billboard 200 for two consecutive weeks. The original soundtrack album for the animated film "K-Pop Demon Hunters" previously reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 but in non-consecutive weeks.
The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on album units, a composite metric combining physical and digital album sales, streaming equivalent albums (SEA) that convert streaming numbers into album sales, and track equivalent albums (TEA) that convert digital song downloads into album sales.
