Eunhyuk, a member of K-pop group Super Junior, donated 100 million won ($72,000) to Samsung Seoul Hospital on his birthday.
According to Samsung Seoul Hospital on Thursday, Eunhyuk said, "I decided to make this donation to provide small help to patients suffering from severe lung diseases," adding, "I hope treatments and new drugs are developed as soon as possible so that many people can recover their health."
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Eunhyuk also donated 100 million won, saying, "I was especially worried because of the memory of my mother suffering from a lung disease."
Beyond donating to support firefighters and relief workers at wildfire response sites in the Yeongnam region last year and contributing to child abuse prevention efforts, Eunhyuk has been at the forefront of philanthropic activities, including organizing donations with fans to mark the 20th anniversary of his debut.
The latest donation will be used for research and treatment development aimed at overcoming severe and intractable lung diseases.
