Warner Music Group will support the global activities of H//PE Princess, a rookie hip-hop group formed through Mnet's Korea-Japan joint project "Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Pop Princess."
H//PE Princess, the first group under Chapter-I, a joint venture established by CJ ENM and Hakuhodo, is co-managed by Chapter-I and hip-hop label Amoeba Culture. The group has now signed with Warner Music Group for its global activities.
Warner Music Group is a global music company with a proven track record of successfully managing international activities for world-renowned artists. For H//PE Princess, Warner Music Group has agreed to provide full support for activities not only in Japan but across Asia and the rest of the world.
The group's name embodies the members' aspiration to forge their own path rooted in musical identity and grow into new role models through solidarity that transcends genre and regional boundaries. Gaeko of Dynamic Duo, a representative figure of the Korean hip-hop scene who has produced numerous hits, will produce the title track of their debut album.
"A solid joint support system has been established ahead of H//PE Princess's debut in the first half of this year," a CJ ENM official said. "We hope people will pay attention to this new group that will expand beyond Asia onto the world stage through collaboration with talented music labels."
"We are delighted to sign a contract with Warner Music Group for H//PE Princess's future global activities, given Warner's track record of delivering results with numerous global artists," Chapter-I CEO Yamada Masahiko said. "This partnership will create synergy beyond imagination."
"We will leverage Warner Music's global network and cutting-edge marketing capabilities to broaden international collaboration opportunities and build a long-term career together," said Rophie Ro, Warner Music's President of Asia-Pacific (APAC).
H//PE Princess is a seven-member Korea-Japan hip-hop group consisting of Coco, YSY (Yoon Seo-young), Yuju, Doi, Rino, Niko, and Sujin. Breaking free from conventional images, each member distinctly showcases her own personality and attitude. The group plans to carve out a unique identity rooted in hip-hop culture, setting itself apart from existing girl groups.
