HYBE, the K-pop entertainment powerhouse behind BTS, has appointed global platform and media experts to its board of directors to strengthen its international business expertise.
HYBE announced Wednesday that it appointed Isaac Lee, chairman and CEO of HYBE America, as an inside director and Kevin Mayer, former senior executive vice president of The Walt Disney Company, as a non-executive director at its annual general shareholders' meeting.
Inside director Isaac Lee currently serves as chairman and CEO of HYBE America, overseeing business operations across the United States and Latin America. His appointment as an inside director aims to unify the decision-making structure between the headquarters and overseas hubs, maximizing business execution in North American and Latin American markets. Lee plans to focus on strengthening HYBE's global business competitiveness by advancing the company's "multi-home, multi-genre" strategy, which secures diverse genres and artists through regional hubs.
Non-executive director Kevin Mayer is regarded as a strategic mastermind in the global media industry. He served as senior executive vice president and chief strategy officer (CSO) at The Walt Disney Company, where he spearheaded the launch of Disney+. He also built an unparalleled network in platform and content investment through his role as CEO of TikTok and co-founding of Candle Media. Mayer is expected to leverage this experience to enhance HYBE's global platform business capabilities and provide expert insight in investment and strategic partnership processes.
