SLL announced Wednesday that its historical drama "Divine Bead" has received an official invitation to the Canneseries International Series Festival.
"Divine Bead" has been invited to the Rendez-Vous section, a non-competition category of the 9th Canneseries, where it will have its world premiere. Actors Ahn Bo-hyun and Soo-hyun will attend the event in person, meeting fans through the Pink Carpet and GV (audience discussion) sessions as the production seeks to broaden its reach in the global market.
Set in 1258 AD, when defeat loomed after 30 years of war with the Mongols, "Divine Bead" tells the story of a convoy's heroic struggle to find the sacred national relic "Gwan-eum Boju" on the battlefield and a princess who tries to save them.
Director Jeong Dae-yun, who helmed "Reborn Rich" — a finalist in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category at the 2023 International Emmy Awards — has joined forces with writer Jeong Hyun-min of "Nokdu Flower" to elevate the production's quality. The series features a strong cast including Ahn Bo-hyun, Lee Sung-min, Soo-hyun, Ha Yoon-kyung and Yoon Kyun-sang.
"'Divine Bead' is a work that combines distinctly Korean historical material with universal global appeal," an SLL official said. "We expect this Canneseries invitation to broaden our connection with international viewers and once again demonstrate the expanding potential of K-content."
The Canneseries International Series Festival, a celebration showcasing dramas and content from around the world, will be held in Cannes, France from April 23 to 28.
