Jaseng Medical Foundation said Friday it donated 480 bags of white rice, each weighing 10 kg (worth approximately 15 million won), to the Community Chest of Busan to support vulnerable communities.
The donated rice will be distributed to low-income households through food banks and food markets across Busan's 16 districts. The Busan Metropolitan Government will provide administrative support in identifying recipients, while the Community Chest of Busan will screen and select eligible households. Each selected household will receive a 10 kg bag of rice. The foundation said it expects the donation to ease the burden on vulnerable households struggling to afford basic food necessities.
Jaseng Medical Foundation also held an inauguration ceremony for the Busan Jaseng Volunteer Corps, a civilian volunteer organization composed of local volunteers. The corps launched with 21 members. Busan Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital will support the corps' operations and activities, strengthening its ties with the local community.
With the new addition, Jaseng Medical Foundation now operates volunteer corps in 13 regions nationwide. Approximately 300 volunteers are actively engaged in community service across the country. Last year, the volunteers provided daily necessities, improved living conditions and carried out various support activities for a total of 1,277 people.
